Who is the Little Horn of Daniel 7:8?

Daniel 7:8 tells us of an appearance of a small horn among the ten, which had eyes like those of humans and boastful lips that spoke boastfully of itself.

Multiple scholars have proposed that this little horn represents Rome. Unfortunately, however, this interpretation may not be universally accepted.

It is a king

Daniel 7:8 shows us that from the fourth beast arises a "little horn", distinct from its other ten horns and representing a new ruler who will arise after the previous ones had subdued three of them and be different than they had been previously.

Although its identity as the Antichrist remains obscure, we know some things for certain about him: He will come from Rome and subjugate three kings before wage war against God's people until His Second Advent arrives and destroys it all.

Daniel 7:8 indicates that the little horn comes from the fourth kingdom, which corresponds to Rome (Daniel 2:44). But there are some who contend that Greece instead constitutes this fourth kingdom and Antiochus Epiphanes is actually the little horn described by Daniel 7. They point out that Daniel 8:11-12 explicitly state this will be a leader from within Greece itself.

This theory does have its critics. First off, it is hard to accept Antiochus Epiphanes as the little horn from Daniel 7 since he is not mentioned in Revelation and never persecuted Israel for three and a half years as predicted in Daniel.

Another argument against Greece as the fourth kingdom is that the ten horns represent a coalition of end times nations who descended from Rome. However, this theory is contradicted by Scripture which describes them as an eternal kingdom with global governance (Daniel 2:44).

It has a global army which will invade all areas of humanity, including God's chosen ones and establish a one-world government controlled by an evil dictatorial leader. It is an alarming vision and should not be trusted by Christians who firmly believe Jesus alone can save humanity from sin and death.

It is a leader

Daniel identified in chapter 7 the little horn which represents Antichrist (Daniel 7:8, 11, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26). To correctly identify this little horn it is vitally important that one understand its nature first.

One must keep in mind that the little horn in Daniel 7 and Daniel 8 differ significantly. While chapter seven's little horn represents Greece, which represents Revived Roman Empire; Daniel 8's represents Rome which stands for an end times coalition of nations descended from Rome.

Daniel 7 depicts the little horn as possessing a military character and directly opposing God and His people, which makes him appear to be "small horn." For this reason he is called such.

Second, we must consider whether Daniel 7 represents an early or later Antichrist. This question is essential because an endtime Antichrist would rise during an age when Revived Roman Empire reigns supreme.

Thirdly, we must consider what "a time, times and half a time" refers to. This phrase may refer to the duration of Little Horn's rule over God's people - three and a half years of rule over them by this little horn.

At this point in time, the little horn will change laws and alter times, giving him immense power over God's people as well as world peace.

Daniel 7 depicts the little horn as an intimidating leader who will exert tremendous negative influences on true Christianity, causing great harm and being empowered enough to conduct apocalyptic acts.

Daniel 7 describes a little horn as the Antichrist who will uproot three kingdoms from their dominion and subjugate them under his rule in the final period. Additionally, this little horn will become known for making false accusations against God himself and speaking highly derogatory statements against Him.

It is a blasphemer

Daniel 7:8 states that a small horn becomes prominent and speaks blasphemous words, depicted with more details than its peers - eyes and a mouth are mentioned as well as being "bold" with "eyes like men" (Daniel 8:22).

Some scholars believe that Antiochus IV Epiphanes, a Syrian Seleucid king from Seleucid times (known today as Syria's Seleucid Empire), represents the little horn. Others think he represents Rome. Still others see him as representing an end human dictator with boastful and profane speeches who will eventually rise up to rule mankind.

Blasphemers are individuals who make defamatory or offensive statements against God or another individual, including insults, accusations or the profanation of His name.

Blasphemy is an act of defiance against God's Word, and should be avoided at all costs. According to Scripture, anyone engaging in acts of blasphemy against Him will be stoned as punishment.

The Bible describes blasphemy as an act that denies God's authority or mockery of his power, making it one of the most serious crimes against Him and an act of idolatry.

Blasphemy in Daniel is often understood to refer to any act which insults God or His saints; hence why Daniel 7:8 describes a small horn who speaks blasphemous words as being from the fourth beast.

Historicists study Daniel's prophecies as a means of predicting an eschatological climax in human and ecclesiastical history from ancient Babylon through to the end of time. Many of Daniel's prophecies have already come true, while others foretell of an age when Rome will regain control of much of the globe.

Preterists take this basic interpretation even further by asserting that the "little horn" represents an end-time antichrist appearing during the final years of Earth history and from the fourth beast's lineage.

It is a destroyer

Daniel 7:8 describes a powerful destroyer as a little horn who will cause great harm to God's people, representing a symbol for Antichrist who will persecute Christians during end times and is also mentioned in Revelation 13:7.

The Bible is an authoritative book which contains essential teachings on God, his works, covenant and promises made between mankind and Him, and how we should live righteously. It serves as one of the primary resources for information regarding Christianity in Western countries.

One of the key advantages of studying the bible is that it provides us with guidance and reassurance in our lives. Because God chose it to be His word to us all, the bible serves as an accurate roadmap to becoming good Christians.

It also teaches that God has chosen the church to be his chosen children and provide special teachings and advice that are valuable for many individuals to heed and follow; some laws are absolute while others can be more flexible in application. The bible contains various teachings which provide insights that are beneficial to all; from absolute laws that must be observed, through to general lessons for living more virtuously and peaceful lives, all can learn something useful from its pages.

A key component of the Bible is that it reveals information on end times. Since it serves as the final testament to God, the bible provides details regarding events that will happen during these final years, such as God's kingdom being established or Christ returning home.

The Bible can provide people with guidance in living more spiritual and pious lives, and can serve as a powerful resource for Christians when studying end times. With so many interpretations available of the bible it's important that individuals select one which fits best with them and their understanding.

One possible interpretation of Daniel 7:8 regarding the little horn is that it represents Antiochus IV; however, this interpretation is incorrect.
